I graduated college in 2008 with a degree in Literature & Theatre.
I love the theatre and the environment it brings. It’s live, and anything can happen. The suspension of disbelief it brings is magical. When I was in high school I went to New York and saw The Lion King, and from that moment on, I wanted to immerse myself in the environment it created. I’m too shy to actually be on the stage, and I never got into it until college. But now I am a freelance stage manager. I think stage managing is my perfect fit because it holds so much responsibility yet is an under appreciated role in theatre.
I have an affinity for the classics, especially in American Literature. Edgar Allan Poe and Nathaniel Hawthorne are my favorites. I also love William Shakespeare (cliché yes?) and Christopher Marlowe. More modern favorites are Jodi Picoult and Stephenie Meyer. Anything that I can sink my teeth into, I most certainly will. My affinity for the classics applies to music as well. I believe Bob Dylan to be one of the greatest storytellers of our time. I also love Bryan Adams, The Beatles, Oasis, John Mayer and Arcade Fire. Not only are they great musicians, they are also great storytellers, which I think is just as important as the melody.
